Company history
NAXIS has over 125 years of history taking on new challenges and expanding its business in step with the changing times. We will continue to consider the success of our customers as integral to our own success, working with customers as partners as we grow in the global market.
- 1897
- NAXIS began at Nishijin in Kyoto, where Nishijin brocade originated, in 1897 with the manufacturing of "obiji," the textile used in kimono belts, under the name of “Donsuya Isuke”. With the changing of the times, we transitioned to the manufacturing of fabric tapes and established the “Nakamura Eijiro retail” to meet the expanding demand for woven labels.

- We begin building our business foundation
Through a company reorganization, we established Nakamura Woven Labels Co., Ltd. and
became an industry pioneer in the manufacturing of printed labels. - 1970
- We opened new sales office in Harajuku Tokyo.
- 1986
- We opened new sales office in Osaka.
- 1989
- We opened Hong Kong Nakamura Co., Ltd. and the Fukui Posnack Center (relocated the Fukui plant).
- 1993
- We changed our name to Nakamura Label and established “NAXIS” as a corporate brand.
- 1994
- We established Thai Nakamura Label as a joint venture with Saha Group.
- 1995
- We established Shanghai Nakamura Co., Ltd and our Kabinburi Factory, located on the outskirts of Bangkok, went into full operation.
- 2003
- The company name was changed to NAXIS Co., Ltd.
Also, we changed the name of the overseas sites. - 2004
- We established QINGDAO NAXIS CO., LTD.
- 2005
- We launched full-fledged RFID tag solutions and comprehensive services for the apparel industry.
- 2008
- DONGGUAN NAXIS Corporation branch founded, Printed factory operated following woven factory.
- 2010
- We opened new sales office in Yodoyabashi Osaka.
- 2014
- We opened new office in Harajuku Tokyo to expand our business.
- 2015
- We opened sales office in Nagoya.
- 2015
- We established NAXIS Vietnam Co., Ltd, and began full operation of our Ho Chi Minh City office and Dong Nai Factory (within the Amata Industrial Park).
- 2016
- We began full operation of NAXIS Indonesia co., Ltd and Ha Nam factory of NAXIS Vietnam Co., Ltd.
- 2018
- We began operation of new site of Dong Nai factory of NAXIS Vietnam Co., Ltd.
- 2018
- We opened “RFID LABO” in Harajuku Tokyo
- 2019
- We opened “BRANDING LABO” in Harajuku Tokyo.
- 2019
- We established BANGLADESH NAXIS CO. , LTD. and opened DHAKA office and factory.
- 2020
- Taiho Nakamura was appointed as NAXIS group CEO.
- 2021
- Relocate our head office to Tokyo.

- NAXIS Co., Ltd. celebrates its 125th anniversary.

- We established NAXIS CO TRIMS INDIA PVT LTD. and opened corporate office and factory.
